Noob to trucking and the new site
I guess its appropriate a real noob asks the first question on this board...
Im honored.
Ok, Ive held an A/Z licence for about 2 years now, with no real experience. Im interested in expediting and possibly someday owning a small fleet. Id prefer to run a straight truck, that seems to be where the bulk of the work is. My question is- how did you get started, and how did it work out for you? Any suggestions for a noob?
Im actually thinking of buying a slightly used straight truck to start. There doesnt seem to be alot of work for the sprinter vans locally.

Look again...sprinters are doing fine....did you try K Dak or TST?
-
No to TST. What is K Dak ?
Sorry for the delay, been out pounding pavement and working P/T.

Hey Jeff. Kdac is in Baden just west of Kitchener. You're in the right place for freight if you want to do cross border work.

Thanks Scott4211. Ive just checked out the kdac website and they are looking for AZ drivers but nothing else.
I may have a local gig in a 5ton shaping up. I was on the US sister site and the consensus reading the forums is to start as a company driver to see if its for me.
Any help is appreciated Scott. Im a total noob.

Halfway thru 2012, how are the sprinters doing ?
Have been thinking about taking the step from company driver (big truck) to o/o sprinter van. Is it a good move and what companies are hiring ?
Run thru the numbers a few times and think that I need at least 1500 miles a week, is that reasonable ?
Thanks for any information.
